At over 10,000 employees, Windows + Devices is one of Microsoft’s largest internal organizations, making up teams that work on the Windows OS, Surface devices, and cloud computing.

As the visual designer for Windows + Devices’ central office, I designed and implemented all visuals used for internal communication among teams, and coming from the org’s leadership. This included presentations, email and newsletter templates, and any design needs for print, events, team swag, or signage. In the midst of several big leadership changes, it was important that all communications told a story of strength, quality, and consistency.

While the bulk of my design work focused on internal communications, I often got to step into external marketing. Several times I was asked to design ads to fill all LED screens in T-Mobile Park for nights that Microsoft would reserve seats in the stadium for employees to promote and celebrate Copilot+PC devices and launches.

In 2024, Andy Elder, Microsoft’s then CVP of Security asked for a walking deck that he could use to give presentations about the state of cybercrime and information security. Working with the team at Trifilm, I developed a look and feel for the deck that drew upon Microsoft’s brand font and color palette while creating a new and ownable style that was unique to Andy’s talk.

A dark and grainy background spoke to the murky and insidious subject matter of anonymous cybercrime and the negative impacts it can have. The bright green and blue accents starkly contrasted against the darkness, elevating the most important information and providing a sense of hope and luminosity.

The deck was a huge success and we continued to iterate and update key statistics for months afterwards, tailoring the presentation to the time and location in which Andy would be giving it.
